Hi, I’m Back (and with changes)

Oh, how I have missed you all!

It’s been almost an entire month since I decided to take a much needed break from the responsibilities of book blogging, and I have truly missed it so much. There were times when I wanted to get off hiatus far sooner but I allowed myself to take the time I needed and I’m glad I did.

During my month away, I thought extensively about this blog and what I’m doing with it and what I want to continue to do with it. I wasn’t here on WordPress very much, as I didn’t want to get overwhelmed with the notifications I’ve been putting off, but I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and paying attention (especially to Book Twitter) and have decided that I want to make some slight changes!

No worries; it’s nothing big. There are really only two changes:

  1. I’m dropping my posting schedule. I don’t know if I’ll come back to it later on or if I’ll plan a new one at a later date, but I’ve decided that, for now, I don’t want to add pressure to myself by creating a hard-to-maintain posting schedule. This also leads into the next change, which is…
  2. I will be doing less tags/memes and focusing more on book reviews and discussions. These two changes really go hand in hand, because by not forcing myself to keep up with 5 posts a week, I don’t have to do as many tags or memes. I’m not going to stop them altogether, because I do find them really fun and entertaining. However, I want to start making more quality content that I’m really proud of, and while I love tags and memes, I want to use my place in the community to recommend great reads, contribute constructive criticism, and start &/or add to important conversations about books. These posts do tend to take more time, so the change in posting schedule really helps with that. I will still be doing wrap-ups and monthly TBR posts, just to let you know what I’m reading/plan to read/have read, but I think I will be doing Top 5 Wednesdays significantly less, though this is not to say I’m doing away with them altogether, because some are really fun to me & have some important topics that I enjoy talking about. However, I will be (for now) cutting out my Down the TBR Hole posts. I may resume these at a later time, but for now that is undecided. I may do themed tags every now & then when they seem fun and interesting, but that is kind of already how I decided to do those, so that’s not much of a change!

Like I said, these aren’t big changes, but they will likely be notable for anyone who keeps up with me, so I wanted to share my new thoughts with you all and give you an idea of what to expect from me & this blog going forward!

I’m really excited to be back & hope that these new changes go well. I’m so looking forward to chatting with you all again ♥

  1. Hi, Brittany!!!!!!!!!!!! I have missed you a whole bunch even though we’ve still been talking and stuff, it just wasn’t the same lol. I am not going to lie, I did creep on your page a bit to see if you’d posted anything else so I am very disappointed that it took me a day to see this (I blame how I chose to get a real adult job while you were gone lol). I think these changes are going to be really cool and fun. I have only been doing memes for the summer and I am already starting to get tired of them (they’re fun, but like, I have spent so much time thinking about how I haven’t been getting to do more creative posts), so it feels somewhat validating to know someone else thinks that lol. Anyways, welcome back, I’ve missed you, and I am looking forward to your new posts!!

    1. I have missed you, too!!! 😭 Even though we’ve talked on other platforms, it’s a completely different side of our friendship here on WordPress lol. I’m so glad you feel the same way about memes because I was kinda worried that I would offend some bloggers by saying I wasn’t as in to them anymore, but I LOVE reading other people’s tags! I just have really lost interest in doing them on my own blog. It’s definitely validating to know someone else feels the same way!

    1. Thank you, Kal! So far the relaxed posting has been so much more enjoyable. I’m finding myself wanting to post more often instead of feeling like I have to, and it makes me enjoy blogging so much more! I found before that tags and memes really help in reading slump or when you have nothing else to post on a day you normally do, but I’m honestly really happy to have cut them out of my posting because they just weren’t very enjoyable for me anymore. I may end up doing one every once in a while if it looks like a fun one but other than that, I’m excited to stick to book reviews and discussions!
