The Currently Reading Book Tag

Normally on Wednesdays I stick to my “Top 5” posts, but the topics for the month of April aren’t ones that I can really participate in (for instance, this week’s topic is to talk about your favorite bookish collectibles and I happen to be a book lover who doesn’t own any of those so…). So instead I will be doing a tag today! This tag is called the “Currently Reading Book Tag” and I saw this done by Kal over at Reader Voracious Blog! I wasn’t tagged but I’m doing it anyways because I know Kal won’t mind. If you are unfamiliar with her, I’d definitely recommend checking her out. She has some amazing book reviews and equally wonderful helpful posts for fellow bloggers!!

Also, I don’t generally tag because I don’t want anyone to feel inclined and I also have a hard time deciding who to tag, but if you’re interested, please consider yourself tagged! I’d love to see your answers.

Let’s get started.

How Many Books Do You Usually Read At Once?

Usually just one! Well… that’s kind of a lie, but let me explain. I most often stick to one pleasure read at a time, but I’m technically always reading 2 or 3 at once thanks to school. But as far as my personal reading goes, just one.

How Do You Decide When To Switch Between Multiple Reads?

Well since I only pleasure read one book at a time, this isn’t something I even have to decide. As far as my school reads, I just switch to those when I need to do my homework.

Do You Ever Switch Bookmarks Partway Through A Book?

No, not really. I don’t utilize bookmarks on a regular basis and when I do it’s usually just a slip of paper around or paint squares or something. I have one really cute bookmark that I love but I actually can’t find it so, ya know, that doesn’t do me much good. I’m definitely one to dog-ear my books.

Where Do You Keep the Book(s) You’re Currently Reading?

Most often they are in the book bag that I carry with me pretty much everywhere. That way, I can read when it’s slow at work, but I also have them readily available in other situations, too. At home they sit on my nightstand, along with my Kindle.

What Time Of Day Do You Read The Most?

Honestly, probably midday. Like I said, I take my books to work and I get a lot of chances to catch up on my reads that way. Most often when I get home in the evenings I have to cook, shower, etc. and am not really in the mood to read as much.

How Long Do You Typically Read In One Session?

It really varies. Sometimes I can read for hours, and sometimes it’s more like half an hour. I’d say on average 1-2 hours at a time.

Do You Read Hardbacks With the Dust Jacket Off?

Of course??? Dust jackets drive me absolutely up the wall and are one of the biggest reasons that I prefer paperbacks.

What Position Do You Mainly Use To Read?

All of ’em. I’m uncomfortable in almost all of my reading positions so I’m constantly readjusting and moving around. I honestly don’t know how I get so much reading done.

Do You Take Your Current Read With You Everywhere You Go?

As mentioned earlier, (thanks to the book bag) pretty much.

How often Do You Update Your Goodreads Reading Progress?

I used to be so good about keeping up with my GR reading progress but I’m definitely a slacker these days. I usually update which book I’m currently reading (but have been known to forget and have to add the book after I’ve already finished it) but I often forget to update what page I’m currently on.

Do we have any answers in common? Talk to me (:

  1. I can only read one book at a time usually. Especially if I really like the book. I also very much dislike hardback books and dust covers. I try to avoid them as much as possible. Sometimes even opting for a different book.

    1. It gets too confusing for me to read more than one at a time. The plots or character traits become mixed up in my mind and I have to untangle everything in my head! I’d prefer just one at a time. I get them done faster that way as well. Dust covers are the bane of my existence. They can be very pretty but I’d rather opt for the cheaper paperback that is equally aesthetic!

    1. Yay, thank you! And I seriously am so jealous of them, too! I see so many people wrapping up several books in a day because they’ve been reading so many at once and it makes me question my reading skills 😅
