Top 5 Wednesdays: Top of My TBR

Hi, all! It’s Wednesday again and as usual, on Wednesdays I post my “Top 5” which comes from a GoodReads group that creates topics for bloggers to write about. The topic this week is “Top 5 on Your TBR”. At first I thought that this meant the 5 books I’ve most recently added, but I decided that it most likely meant my high priority TBR books. So that’s what I’m going with!

So, without further ado, here are the top 5 books from my TBR.

Broken ThingsBroken Things – Lauren Oliver

I’ve wanted to read this since I saw it’s GR page and got serious “Slender Man Stabbing” vibes. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, Google it, and then read the synopsis for this. I have no idea if the book is inspired but that situation but I get the vibes nonetheless. Anyways, I finally bought this (the cover is so beautiful) and it’s on high priority at the moment.

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)Percy Jackson & The Olympians (Series) – Rick Riordan

My intent was to read this series (or at least the five original books) this month, but I’ve been putting it off. It’s still very high on my priority reads but I’ve had so many fun stand-alone novels come into my possession that I decided to get a few of those read first. I am truly excited to go back to these books though because I loved the first one when I read it (a whole 10 years ago because apparently I’m getting old and I’m just now started to realize it).

Pretty Little Liars (Pretty Little Liars, #1)Pretty Little Liars (Series) – Sara Shepard

I blame two things for my attraction to this series: 1) Kaleena, who has been reading these books and writing great reviews that pulled me to the series even though I’ve never been interested in reading the books, & 2) Watching the new Netflix show “You” that featured Shay Mitchell and made me nostalgic for her being on my screen, resulting in me binging the entire Freeform TV series in the past two weeks.

Two Can Keep a SecretTwo Can Keep a Secret – Karen M. McManus

I haven’t gotten my hands on this one yet (though it’s not for a lack of trying), but I’d really like to grab it soon. I enjoyed One of Us is Lying well enough, but my main pull to this book is definitely the hype. It has a 4.10 star rating so far on GR but I’ve seen very mixed reviews from my own GR friends so I’m not entirely sure what to expect. I’m also very intrigued by the fact that this book looks so similar to the last one, which makes me think the feel will be the same. We shall see.

We Told Six LiesWe Told Six Lies – Victoria Scott

This is another that I do not yet have but that’s because it hasn’t been released yet and I’m trying to limit my time on ARCs this year. From what I can tell, this is a love story gone wrong and twisted. Once again, I’ve read very back and forth opinions, but a few whom I trust have raved about it. I’m definitely a sucker for mystery/thriller/suspense stories so I’m really excited to get my hands on this.

  1. OOOH I can’t wait for you to read PJO! It’s honestly incredible. Also when you said you read the first book 10 years ago, it made me realize… SAME HERE. I feel old too lol. I hope you enjoy all of these books when you get around to them Brittany! happy reading 💞

    1. I’m super excited for the PJO series and constantly kicking myself for putting it off all month! Also, I’m glad I’m now not alone in feeling old 😅 It’s always weird realizing how long ago you might’ve read something! Thank you!!! ❤

  2. Oh I hope you love PJO when you read it, I think I’m going to reread them soon because I won’t be able to resist any longer. Right now my high priorities are The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner and A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab.

  3. My high priority read is Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty. She’s the author of Big Little Lies which was also an HBO series. I need to finish it by our book club in Feb. so even thought I have a few weeks, I am also currently reading three additional books: Grenade, Imposters and All American Boys.

    1. I haven’t read Big Little Lies but I did see the show and I was completely engrossed in the story so I really should check out the novel. Let me know if you like Nine Perfect Strangers so I know if I should check that one out, too! And ooooh I’ve heard that Imposters is interesting! Are you liking it?

      1. I am liking Impostors. I ended up pausing and reading Uglies which is an older one by the same author, and it was great! I’ll probably go back and finish that series at some point. Impostors mentions the main character from his Uglies series, so I read it for that background even though Impostors is a stand alone series. So far so good 😊❤️📖
