Hi, all! I’ve been wanting to do this tag for a few weeks now and I’m finally getting the chance! I saw this on Jenniely’s blog during Blogmas and she had some fun answers, so definitely check that post out as well! As usual, I won’t be tagging but if you’re interested in doing this, I definitely recommend it! Consider yourself tagged.
Let’s get started.
1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Not really. I like to read on my front porch when the weather is nice enough, but otherwise I’ll read on the sofa, chair, or in bed. As long as I can get comfortable, I don’t care much about where I’m reading.
2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Both! I most often end up dog-earring my books but if I do bookmark it, I’ll just grab whatever is handy. Sometimes that’s a random slip of paper, paint squares, or an actual bookmark. I’m not picky.
3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?
I can just stop reading if I need to, but I’d rather find a nice stopping place at the end of a chapter.
4. Do you eat or drink while reading?
I don’t often eat while I’m reading because my hands are preoccupied with the book. I do drink though!
5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
Absolutely not. I can’t focus like that. I don’t mind the TV being on if someone else is watching it but I will completely drown it out while I’m reading. Same with music!
6. One book at a time or several at once?
Preferably one at a time. I’ve had several going before but I really don’t like doing that. I get the stories and characters mixed up.
7. Reading at home or everywhere?
Everywhere! Why limit my literature intake to being at home?
8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Both. I don’t read out loud so to say, but I have this super weird quirk where I mouth/kind of whisper what I’m reading. I feel like I don’t take in the content if my mouth isn’t forming the words. I know that sounds insane but I’ve been doing it for so long that I have no idea how to stop.
9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
I am guilty of reading ahead a bit, but it’s never by much. I might check out the end of the page and then go back up to where I was. I have also been known to check out the ending a time or two because the suspense is too much. No skipping though.
10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
Breaking the spine. I know that a lot of book lovers like to keep their books in top notch condition, which is totally fine, but I like my books broken in. I mean, I don’t want any ripped pages but I like a book to feel read. That’s why I get so many books for cheap because I have no problem with buying used ones.
11. Do you write in your books?
I do. I’m an English major!! What else do you expect of me!?
1. When do you find yourself reading?
I have no set schedule. If I have the time to read and I’m in a reading mood, then catch me reading.
2. What is your best setting to read in?
Anywhere that is comfy and relatively warm. I don’t like to be too cold or too hot (that really applies to all aspects of my life and not just my reading but oh well).
3. What do you do first – Read or Watch?
I think this one just depends on what I come across first. I’ve definitely seen movie adaptions before going into the book and vice versa.
4. What form do you prefer? Audiobook, E-book or physical book?
Physical book all the way. I can’t focus with Audiobooks (remember that thing about me not taking the content in if I’m not saying the words…), and I’m definitely down to read an E-book but I’d prefer the physical book any day.
5. Do you have a unique habit when you read?
I’ll reiterate my mouthing the words quirk.
6. Do book series have to match?
No, not for me. I have tons of series that are entirely mismatched. It’s because I buy used books a lot and will just take what I can get. I’m not a huge aesthetic person so stuff like that doesn’t bug me.
