Mid-Year Freakout

June has come and is almost gone. We have reached the half year point, and BOY has 2018 been a disaster.

Not as far as books go. Just basically.. everything else.

I’m not sure where this tag originated from, or who started it, but if you know, kindly let me know in the comments! I’d love to credit them. Also, if you’re interested in doing this, consider yourself tagged!

Let’s get started!!

Progress: I’ve read 69 books so far to date. My goal for the year was 40 (which, between you and I seemed like a larger number than I’ve come to realize). So, I’ve beat the 2018 reading challenge I set for myself! This puts me at 173%. Since I beat the challenge a little while back, I decided to keep pushing myself and maybe reach 100. We shall see!

Best book you’ve read this year ?

Oh, uhm.. I’ve read a lot of really good books this year. Only one from 2018 has made it onto my “Top 5” though, so I’ll say that one. It’s Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.

Best sequel you’ve read in 2018?

I haven’t read in sequels so far! This hasn’t been a year of series for me.

New release you haven’t read yet but want to ?

Ooooooh that’s a good question. I have actually have quite a few… I think I’ll say Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering!

Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year?

Hmm… does a book I’ve already read and am excited for others to read count? If so, then My Whole Truth by Mischa Thrace for sure. If not, then… I’m not sure. I don’t really pay attention to publication dates, if I’m being honest.

Biggest Disappointment?

I don’t even want to keep talking about this book and giving it second hand publicity (even bad publicity is STILL publicity) but everytime someone asks me this question, all I think of is I Was A Bitch by Emily Ruben. Also, Meet Me in the Strange by Leander Watts, which was by far the worst ARC I’ve ever recieved.

Biggest Surprise?

Surprise as in “SURPRISE! You actually liked a book!” or surprise as in the shock factor??? For the first, I’ll say Hate List by Jennifer Brown. This was amazing, but I didn’t expect to like it. For the latter… maybe The Assassin Game? It’s the only one that I feel like I couldn’t solve.

Favorite New To You Or Debut Author?

For me this was Gabrielle Union all the way! Reading We’re Going to Need More Wine was a truly amazing experience.

Newest Favorite Character?

I… don’t think I have one? I suppose if I had to choose, it would be Bernadette from Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple. Her antics absolutely made the story.

Book That Made You Cry?

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson! So many tears.

Book That Made You Happy?

I mean… a lot of them. But probably The Outcasts of 19 Schuyler Place  by E.L. Konigsburg the most. This is a middle grade book, and I read it in elementary school, but rereading it this year brought me a very happy dose of nostalgia.

Favorite Book-To-Film Adaptation?

Either Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli or Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (which, OK yea, wasn’t written in 2018 and the movie didn’t come out until 2018, but me, myself, and didn’t watch or read this until this year so). I like both of these movies better than the books… sue me.

Favorite Post You Have Done This Year?

I think my personal favorite was my Bookish Facts About Me post because I find posts like that to be really fun to write! I also loved doing the Mystery Blogger Award post because I got to nominate others and see what their answers were.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year?

In MY opinion, these books are all total cover porn (and also amazing reads). These are the covers for I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson, A List of Cages by Robin Roe, and The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed!

What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of the Year?

So many that there is no way I can even attempt to make a list of them.

How has your reading gone so far this year? Do you have any fun answers for these questions?
